Fashion Biz 101 Contest Rules & Requirements

 

Is it your dream to work in the fashion business? Perhaps specifically you want to be a designer, stylist, model, branding manager, or some type of executive for an exciting fashion brand. Are you presently a student and need to gain community service hours or credit? Well perhaps the Fashion Biz 101 initiative is right for you!

 

I am looking to select 5 - 8 candidates who exhibit exceptional talent in the areas of fashion, fashion design, sewing and/or manufacturing, business management, modeling, and sales. The team I select will work closely with me 8 - 10 hours a week to build two fashion brands with me over the next 12 months. Participants can expect to gain the following:

 

-Fundamentals of entrepreneurship (product development, branding, marketing, sales and profit evaluation).

 

-Hands on experience in all aspects of developing and operating an online based fashion company (web development, backend inventory management etc).

 

-Experience in campaign development and social media marketing.

 

-The opportunity to have one’s work showcased to the public.

 

-A comparable stipend after a 90 period of dedicated service.

 

-Once revenues are generated, consideration for permanent employment.

 

-A reputable letter of recommendation upon completion of the program.

 

-Community service hours or appropriate school credit.

 

Requirements |

 

-Must be a student ages 16 - 25 with proof of enrollment either in a high school or college.

 

-Must present 2 - 3 samples of your work in one or more of the specified categories listed above, Saturday January 27, 2018 from 1-4 pm @ Open Works 1400 Greenmount Ave. No one will be seen before 1pm or after 4pm so please come during the specified time.

 

-Must be able to articulate your passion for the industry, why you believe you are an ideal candidate, and your willingness to be a part of an effective team, in 1-2 minutes before a professional panel of judges Saturday January 27, 2018 from 1-4 pm @ Open Works 1400 Greenmount Ave.

 

-Must provide 2 - 3 character references.

 

Selected candidates will be required to participate in all aspects of the business at various times but will be mentored in their specific area(s) of interest as well. They must be available to work weekends, be hardworking, team oriented, and have a positive attitude. All minors must have written permission from parent or legal guardian. Background checks may be performed if deemed necessary. 

 

Notification |

 

Selected participants will be notified one week after the competition.
